CONNECT . COMMUNICATE . COLLABORATE
For decades we did not hear from KOA. As a result, our expectations of KOA as an inclusive member organization were fairly modest. That changed fabulously, when Anjana Kaul reached out to us a few years ago.
In my 30 years of living in Houston, no previous director had ever done that — a simple yet powerful gesture that spoke volumes about her integrity and her respect for community members.
What stands out most is how Anjana ji is reaching out to our younger generation at scale. That connection is vital — because unless our youth feel part of our traditions and community life, we risk losing not just our culture…

Anjana ji listens deeply, speaks thoughtfully, and acts with conviction. She has a rare ability to make others feel seen, heard, and empowered — a true leader-maker.

With Anjana, genuineness is what comes to mind first - what you see is what you get, which establishes trust. Ever since she moved to Austin, Anjana has shown every day how much she cares for our community, even before she became Director.

Following her election, Anjana did not disappear. She stayed in touch, inviting me to all of the zonal events, and even to events in Texas. She asked for my advice in reaching out to other community members in the Zone, which I was happy to do, and I know she reached out to and connected with these people.
A thriving community needs a special kind of person - a leader who can keep members engaged, reach out to those who might otherwise stay on the sidelines, and connect different generations in their own backyards.
A woman of action, Anjana has shown an incredible vision for engaging our Kashmiri Pandit community, not just in Zone 5 but beyond. Soon after she became Director of Zone 5 for the first time, she initiated the Kashmiri Cultural Education Initiative…
All in all, Anjana and her team of inspired volunteers make us seniors feel respected, valued, and welcome. Her amiable nature is exceeded only by her willingness to help.

Anjana’s initiatives have had a lasting impact. She launched the Kashmiri Quarterly Newsletter, which beautifully highlights community events and accomplishments from each quarter, helping everyone stay connected and informed, especially people like us who live far away from concentrations of our community.
Her leadership isn’t confined by geography. She has built bridges across zones, welcomed new members, and represented KOA with grace and heart wherever she goes. And she doesn’t do it alone, her family stands right beside her.
As the organizer for the KOA Annual July 4th Camp in Colorado, Anjana ji led with energy and precision - all the way from Austin - ensuring every detail was well planned, every volunteer felt supported, and the over 250 participants felt welcomed.
Anjana’s spirit of inclusivity and belonging shines through everything she does.....She carries forward the values that define us as Kashmiris. She doesn’t just talk about community, she builds it with patience, purpose, and heart......Because of her, we feel closer to Maej Kasheer every passing day.
Since she became Director, I’ve seen a flurry of thoughtful initiatives that have had a real positive impact on the community. She has not only kept us well-informed.....but has also taken the time to understand our individual strengths and how we could contribute..
I have had the privilege of participating in zonal events (mostly virtually) and have connected with many members throughout Zone 5 whom I would have otherwise never met. This, in my opinion, is the core function of an organization like KOA…
Moving away from home for college can be a big transition, but the Kashmiri community in Austin—especially Anjana Auntie and her family—has truly felt like a home away from home for me. From the very beginning, Anjana Auntie…
Anjana has a unique ability to inspire engagement, which I have not seen from any other candidate now or in the past. For a community like ours, that is absolutely critical.
